It acts by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Amoxicillin is not resistant to the action of beta-lactamases, which can hydrolyse the molecules causing the beta-lactam ring structure to open, rendering it antibiotically inactive. It is excreted largely unchanged in the urine, but 10-25% is excreted in the form of penicilloic acid. Amoxicillin is not highly protein-bound. In blood serum, amoxicillin is only 17% protein-bound compared with 59% for penicillin G.INDICATIONS: For the treatment of diseases caused by Gram (+) and Gram (-) bacteria sensitive to Amoxicillin,infection of the lungs and respiratory tract, infections of gastro intestinal and uro genital tract and localized infections. - Septicemia. - Respiratory infections: Pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis. - Gastrointestinal infections: Gastritis, enteritis (Colibacillosis, salmonellosis). - Urogenital infections: Postpartum infections, metritis, pyometra, cystitis, mastitis, swine MMA. - Local bacterial infections: Abscesses, wounds, infected eczemas.CONTRAINDICATIONS: Not suitable for intravenous or intrathecal use. Pigs : 7 mL/ 70 kg b.w.Dogs, cats : 1 mL/ 10 kg b.w. Poultry : 0.1 mL/ 1kg b.w. The dosage should be repeated once every 48 hours. PRECAUTIONS: Do not mix other solutions with the same syringe.
