Machete is a selective pre-emergent herbicide primarily used to control annual grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds in rice crops. Its active ingredient is butachlor (600g/L in EC formulation). It works by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division in germinating seeds, preventing weed emergence before it happens.How to Apply & DosageTiming: Apply 2–3 days after transplanting or planting, while the soil is moist or submerged.Dosage: Mix 1–1.5 liters of Machete per hectare. For a standard 16-liter sprayer (knapsack), this equates to approximately 90 mL of product.Application: Ensure even soil coverage using a sprayer. Fields should ideally have 3–5 cm of standing water for maximum effectiveness.Compatibility: It is often tank-mixed with other herbicides like 2,4-D for a wider spectrum of weed control.
