Tic T825 USB Multi-Interface Stepper Motor Controller

Pololu Tic T825 USB Multi-Interface Stepper Motor Controller (Connectors Soldered) — DRV8825, 8.5–45V, ~1.5A/phase The Pololu Tic T825 makes stepper control feel “plug-and-play”: configure it over USB using Pololu’s free software, then control one bipolar stepper motor using the interface that fits your project best—USB, TTL serial, I²C, analog voltage (pot/joystick), quadrature encoder dial, or RC servo pulses. This model is based on the TI DRV8825 and includes soldered header pins and terminal blocks, so there’s no soldering required to start wiring and testing. Power range: operates from 8.5V to 45V. Current capability: up to ~1.5A per phase without a heat sink/forced airflow; up to 2.5A max with sufficient additional cooling. Microstep modes: supports full-step through 1/32-step modes. Speed range: up to 50,000 steps/s, and can go extremely slow down to 1 step every 200 seconds (or slower with reduced resolution). Smooth motion controls: acceleration/deceleration limiting and digitally adjustable current limit. Safety & I/O: optional limit switch inputs with homing, optional kill switch inputs, and more.Built-in regulator: includes a 5V regulator (no external logic supply needed). Quick “buyer clarity” notes:This is for 1 bipolar stepper motor (4-wire / 2-coil). Quadrature encoder input is for a rotary encoder dial (unlimited turning), not for position feedback. USB cable not included: uses a USB A to Micro-B cable. Reverse protection: reverse protection for motor power supplies up to 40V. Why/BenefitsEasy setup, easy tuningQuick configuration and testing over USB using free software (Windows, Linux, macOS).Monitor behavior, set current limits, tune speeds/accel without rewriting firmware. Connectors are already soldered—faster builds, cleaner wiring. Lots of control optionsPick your interface: USB, TTL serial, I²C, analog, encoder dial, or RC. STEP/DIR inputs for compatibility with existing stepper-control firmware. STEP/DIR outputs also available for driving an external stepper driver if needed. Technical specificationsProductPololu Tic T825 USB Multi-Interface Stepper Motor Controller (Connectors Soldered) Motor supported1× bipolar stepper motor (open-loop speed or position control)Driver ICTexas Instruments DRV8825Motor supply (VIN)8.5V to 45VMax continuous current~1.5A per phase (no additional cooling)Peak currentUp to 2.5A per phase with additional coolingMicrostep modesFull-step to 1/32-stepMax speedUp to 50,000 steps per secondControl interfacesUSB, TTL serial, I²C, analog voltage, quadrature encoder dial, RC servo pulses, STEP/DIR inputsBuilt-in regulator5V regulator (no external logic supply required)ProtectionReverse protection for motor power supplies up to 40VConnectorsHeader pins + terminal blocks (soldered) Pinout & power notesMotor power: connect your supply to VIN/GND terminals (observe polarity; reverse protection applies up to 40V). Motor outputs: connect the two coils of your bipolar stepper to the motor output terminals.USB: configure and control via USB (Micro-B). Cable not included. Interfaces: choose TTL serial, I²C, analog, RC, encoder dial, or STEP/DIR depending on your project. Tip: For best reliability at higher currents, keep wiring short/thick, and consider airflow or a small heatsink. FAQCan I use this with Arduino / ESP32?Yes. Use TTL serial or I²C, or drive it using STEP/DIR inputs. Pololu also provides an Arduino library to help you get started.Does it need a separate logic supply? No. The board includes a 5V regulator so an external logic voltage supply is not required. Is the encoder input for closed-loop position feedback? No—Pololu describes it as an encoder dial input for unlimited rotation (not position feedback). What’s the difference vs “not soldered” versions? This (#3130) version ships with header pins and terminal blocks already soldered—no soldering needed to use it.
