Purple & White Corn Seeds (Hybrid) – Unique Color Variety – Easy to Grow Vegetable Seeds – GreenSoil

Planting 25 pcs seeds per packPlant Population Density Plant population is closely associated with corn yields. The development of more improved hybrids is an important factor in increasing corn yields. Newer hybrids are more adapted to heavier plant populations and fertilizing rates. To attain an optimum plant population density of 50,000-60,000, 16-18 kg of hybrid seeds or 18-20 kg of open-pollinated variety (OPV) seeds per hectare are needed. When Planting: Ensure that the soil has been irrigated or rain-fed prior to planting for uniformity and promotion of seedling emergence. Plant 1-2 seeds per hill, spaced at 25 cm apart and 3-5 cm deep. When available, use mechanical planters for a more uniform depth of planting and consequent germination. Thin seedlings to one plant per hill about 7-10 days after emergence. Thinning out of undesirable seedlings eases overcrowding, which allows better penetration of sunlight, permits proper aeration, and minimizes nutrient competition. Thinning is the removal of excess or undesirable seedlings. To minimize pest and disease problems, plant at almost the same period as farmers do nearby. Fertilizer applicationTo achieve maximum yield, fertilizer should be applied on time. Manure and biochar can also be added to soil with little or no organic matter. When planting manually, thoroughly mix soil with a teaspoonful of fertilizer into each planting hole to ensure that it doesn’t burn the seeds. Place the seeds on top of the soil and feel for softness.DAP is recommended for planting because it contains phosphorous, which helps in root development.Top dressingMaize can be top dressed with CA 2-3 weeks after planting or when it is 45 cm (1 ft) high. One teaspoon of fertilizer should be applied to the base of each plant, 15 cm away from the plant in a ring or along the row.Top dress in two stages in areas with heavy rainfall: the first six weeks after sowing and the second 10-15 days later, or just before tussling. In areas experiencing low rainfall, topdressing is done only once at a rate of 50–100 kg per acre.Using CAN and urea for topdressing is good because it fixes nitrogen in the soil. Nitrogen increases the green color of the leaves to make food for the plant.
