The technology of wireless internet broadband provides the high-speed wireless internet access or networking over a wide area. Though broadband had a different technical meaning in the original sense, it had gradually become a marketing term over the years and refers to a relatively high-speed computer network and internet access technology. Having instantaneous bandwidths greater than 1 MHz and data rates greater than 1.5 Mbit/s used to be the definition, but with passing years and developing technology, the definitions have been upgraded to include 25 Mbit/s of download speeds and 3 Mbit/s of upload speeds.
Wireless internet networks can offer data rates that might even be equal to some of the wired networks, like the asymmetric digital subscriber line or even a cable modem. Some of the wireless internet service providers would even offer wireless internet broadband with speeds more than 100 Mbit/s and can have an estimated range of about 50 km from a tower. Though these high-speed technologies are becoming popular, some of the areas have still not implemented them due to imbalanced return on investment figures.
