The traditional trusty sweatpants has a stylish younger brother called “Joggers”. Also known as tailored sweatpants, jogger pants are made of the same breathable cotton fabric, but can be distinguished by its slim-cut and the elastic band around the ankles. Quite different from its baggy, lounge pants counterpart, its slim-fit style makes one look cool and relaxed. These are mainly used as casual wear, a laidback alternative to jeans and shorts. These are the go-to of “athleisure” style, instantly making the wearer look athletic without really trying. Available in a variety of a materials and prints, this type of pants can help a guy pull of different levels of cool. Pair a set of plain grey ones with a simple t-shirt for that “fresh from the gym” look. Wear khaki colored ones with a printed button down for a chill, hipster vibe. However, be warned about using joggers for exercise. Some find the elastic band around the ankles uncomfortable; others are unable to stretch much in the slim-fit pants.
The old, trusty running buddies are still in existence, and are still used as sportswear. Unlike jogger pants, these loose-fitting cotton pants are a lot less stylish, but can be considered far more comfortable. Truly designed for exercise, the lightweight and flexible bottoms allow one to move about freely. Although fashion designed from upon them, these so-called lounge pants can also be used as sleepwear or “pambahay”. Settle in bed with a comfy cotton pair, or bum around the house on the weekends while binge-watching TV. Famed designer Karl Lagerfeld considered these pants as a sign of defeat, but one can also easily consider them a sign of comfort.
