MANILA, PHILIPPINES – To celebrate mother’s day, Lazada (www.lazada.com.ph), the country’s one stop shopping and selling destination, conducted an online survey among members of the Lazada Super Moms and main FB page. Survey results are based on direct consumer responses and not reflective of the views of Lazada.com or its employees.
Lazada moms are Vilmanians at heart with 69% of respondents saying she is the best representation of a mother, winning over other showbiz icons Sharon Cuneta, Dawn Zulueta and Jaclyn Jose.
When it comes to music and entertainment, the popularity of local band Eraserheads (40%) beats out international bands, Coldplay and U2. But when it comes to Hollywood crushes, Leo (24%) still has a long way to go before reaching Brad’s (53%) stature.
Moms are more active than ever before. With the limitless number of mom apps available, almost three (71%) out of four respondents prefer using an Android over an iOS. Function over femininity rules as moms prefer wearing shorts (45.3%) as their comfy #OOTD, with jeans as a close contender (43.7%). Baby wipes top their survival kit must have (36.0%) to take out
Moms are always on the lookout for great deals, especially during sales (37.6%). For example in diapers, Huggies was ranked as the most preferred and trusted brand by moms (34.4%). Interesting to note that moms would rather (1) buy during a sale, (2) use discount vouchers or (3) buy product bundles than ask allowance from dad when the household budget gets pretty tight
One thing moms aren’t afraid to scrimp on are themselves. 36% of respondents described themselves as part of the Health and Beauty category. When asked what form of dieting they prefer, moms prefer a diet of fruits and veggies (58%) instead of depriving themselves of sweets or rice. For mini-breaks, a surprising 41.2% prefer staycations over out of town getaways.
As Mother’s Day is just around the corner, Lazada treats all mothers out there with Mother’s Day Specials until May 5, 2016 with up to 80% off on a wide assortment of products. Perfect gifts for mothers are available from kitchenware, cameras, gadgets and a whole lot more. Lazada also makes flower deliveries possible on Mother’s Day for its first 400 customers who would be pre-ordering on or before 5:00p.m on May 6. Mom is definitely the queen this May. Treat your royal highness by visiting www.lazada.com.ph or by downloading the mobile app for free.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - In the face of intense summer heat, keeping cool is essential. But in the Philippines, it seems nothing is cooler than a nice selfie. Lazada (www.lazada.com.ph), the country’s leading online retailer, sold a whopping 26,000 selfie sticks from March to April, 30% more than air cooling units and electric fans.
This increase in selfie stick purchases coincides with the increase in summer travel as evidenced by a spike in outdoor equipment and camera purchases. Filipinos will brave the 40 degree weather to go to exotic places, take an epic selfie and post it on social media. Selfie sticks are now the new summer essential along with sunglasses and sunblock.
To celebrate the unique ways Filipinos celebrate summer, Lazada launched its Labor Day sale last April 25, and will last until May 1, 2016. With up to 80% off and frequent flash sales, you’ll find great deals on favorite categories like fashion, sports & outdoors, and gadgets.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Payday has often been touted as a time of increased spending power for the Filipino worker. But research reveals that payday is more about food than anything else. In an online survey of 345 respondents, Lazada Market Intelligence discovered that 47.4% of workers spend more on food during payday vs. 41% who spend the same. 26% of respondents spend 50% more and 21% claiming to spend up to twice as much for their payday meals.
The payday meal is deeply ingrained in the Filipino psyche with 55% of respondents reporting that they spend their first paycheck on treating their family to a lunch or dinner, while 37.5% immediately associate any bonus salary to treating their family to a meal. This tradition is so prevalent that 20% of respondents actually dread family and friends asking for a payday “blowout.”
Where do the rest of one’s earnings go? Bills. Bills. Bills. 74% of respondents immediately think of bills to pay every 15th and 30th. 88% of respondents say that bills (electricity, water, phone, rent, credit card) take up the bulk of their salaries. It doesn't help that 54% of respondents have experienced salary deduction due to lateness or absence, reducing their spending power even further.
It also doesn't help that consumer spending is hampered by existing infrastructure. It's tough to get cash and spend it! 40% of respondents consider long lines at the ATM as the biggest hassle during payday. 24% said that payday traffic bothers them most while 15% mention that mall overcrowding is a deterrent to enjoyable paydays.
Meanwhile, internal Lazada data shows that majority of shoppers are females during the 15th and 30th, with the most number of items sold in the health and beauty category. While getting bills out of the way is top priority, people still allocate a little extra for the small ticket essentials to look and feel good about themselves.
In light of more bills and a tougher retail environment, the role of e-commerce now goes beyond just a convenience option - it is emerging as the solution to all limitations Filipinos experience during payday. At Lazada, the marketplace dynamic allows customers to look for best value items without having to go through the ATM lines or the mall crowds. Lazada also offers deferred payment options to give Filipinos more choices on how to manage their hard-earned cash.
And to bring the celebratory feel of payday beyond the payday meal, Lazada is launching its Payday Sale this May 30 to June 2. Customers are expected to be in a shopping frenzy with up to 85% off across a wide assortment of products. Get the best-priced bags, electronic gadgets, accessories, etc. from Lazada’s exciting product category deals and flash sales. A VR Box Virtual Reality 3D Glass for Php 379, a Casio Youth Digital Men’s Stainless Watch for Php 1,099 and an Ace 32” Slim LED TV for Php 5,999 are just some of the must haves this season. MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Lazada Philippines (www.lazada.com.ph) held a thanksgiving dinner and recognition ceremony for the culmination of their “Affiliate Online Revolution” contest last January 22, 2016 at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center.
The contest called on all new and existing affiliates to step up to the challenge of generating the most number of sales for Lazada from October to December 2015. Cash prizes amounting to one million pesos were given away to top performing affiliates. Michelle Ng, who operates Discount Group Asia, was awarded Php 200,000 for being the overall top performer. Winners for the other rounds were also awarded with cash prizes as high Php 150,000 each.
The commission that the affiliate program has extended doubled in the last two months making potential and current affiliates more driven to earn extra money in promoting Lazada. Marc Farrales, a full time IT programmer and the contest’s overall top 2 performer, earned an average of Php 60,000 for the past two months compared to his average commission of Php 10,000 monthly before the competition. His strategy is to maximize the use of Facebook groups in pushing promotions.
More than earning commission, affiliates are able to be part of the fast growing ecommerce industry. “Through the Lazada Affiliate Program, I learned to set up online promotions and be a digital marketer. The program empowered me to earn money to support my college education. It also taught me how to use my extra time in a very productive way and most importantly, connect with amazing people whose passion for blogging inspire me everyday to become better in my craft” mentions Chester Chanco, a 4th year Entrepreneurship student from the Ateneo de Davao University.
Janette Toral, e-commerce advocate, shares “I am glad that Lazada took the bold move in launching an exciting affiliate competition. I am sure that this made our participants realize that affiliate marketing is a lucrative business if they put their hearts and minds to it. Anyone who aspires to be an expert in ecommerce should consider becoming an affiliate. It can give you hands on experience by putting your skills to the test that no formal training nor program can teach you”.
The recognition ceremony also paved way for the launching of the Chinese New Year Sale in Lazada. A wide assortment of unique finds for the year of the fire monkey and discounts as high as 88% across 15 categories will be up for grabs from January 26 to February 8. Affiliates were further encouraged to promote Lazada as commissions for this sale will be 20% higher.
Be part of the Lazada experience either through earning commission by joining the fastest growing e-commerce affiliate program in the SEA region or by enjoying many lucky finds at https://www.lazada.com.ph/chinese-new-year/ on desktop or through the mobile app.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – In an online survey of over 300 respondents, only a third (36%) of Filipinos are really happy with their Valentine’s Day gifts. Less than half (46%) said that they were satisfied while 3% expressed absolute dissatisfaction.
The survey, conducted by Lazada (www.lazada.com.ph) , explored the processes and reasons for the lack of contentment over Valentine’s Day gifts.
Almost one in four respondents (23%) expressed that chocolates and couple’s shirts are cliché, but the most cliché gifts are picture frames with over 40% of people agreeing they are passé. On the other hand, over 30% of respondents agree that flowers are a must have, beating out chocolates (19%), stuffed toys (9.6%). Surprisingly, more and more people (15%) see gadgets as an essential gift for the month of romance.
It seems surprise gifts are falling out of fashion as an overwhelming 86% of respondents prefer to express to their partners what they want. This transparency between couples extends to finding deals. 65% of respondents said they don’t mind sharing that they got their gifts on sale. The implicit learning is that if you get your partner the gift they want, it doesn’t matter if you got it on discount.
The survey also explored love in the digital space. Overtly expressing affection over social media or “Online PDA” seems acceptable with 52% of respondents saying they practice social media PDA themselves. However, when it comes to meeting love interests online, half of the respondents had hesitations with online dating. 51% agreed with the statement: “Online shopping never hurt anyone, people do.” Talk about #hugot.
As our Valentine’s Day gifting habits evolve and improve, it is important for Filipinos to discover more convenient and cost effective ways to find the perfect gift. That’s why Lazada’s Valentine’s Day promo makes it the perfect place to get the gifts your partner wants in ways you can easily afford. Visit www.lazada.com.ph or shop now via the Lazada mobile app.
According to Facebook, social media apps (FB / Instagram) are intuitively formed for bite sized discovery and snacking of content. With Filipino smartphone user habits primarily shaped by social media consumption, it is no surprise, that Filipinos' mobile shopping habits have similar patterns.
The average cost of an item purchased on the Lazada mobile app is 15% less than items purchased via desktop. But this lower average spend is easily offset by the massive growth of the app portal, up 400% from 2014. This massive growth of m commerce mirrors the Philippine digital landscape where mobile devices are the first and primary source of digital access
According to internal Lazada data, the most popular product categories for app purchases are: Beauty Tools, Food Supplements, Portable Audio, Kitchen & Dining, Small Kitchen Appliances, Diaper & Potty, and Fragrances. The nature of these low cost categories is that they do not have intimidating price points and therefore give more opportunity for product discoveries. In fact consumers spend 67% more time in browsing Lazada through the app versus desktop.
This low cost behavior has similarities to short form content consumption on popular platforms like Youtube, and Facebook. Short videos, gifs, and images, all have relatively low demand on time and bandwidth thus encouraging discovery and consumption of multiple pieces of bite sized content. We snack on content in the same way we browse for good deals: one scroll at a time.
Just as checking social media through your mobile has become a habit during breaks, so too has mobile or app commerce and total traffic peaks during break times. 9am, 12 noon and 8pm, all show peaks in browsing and purchase quite similar to mobile social media consumption peaks. This habitual browsing makes Lazada mobile app users 10% more loyal in terms of repurchase vs. non-mobile purchases.
Free time is so pivotal to increase shopping behavior that Lazada actually targets key holidays for its major sales like the recently concluded Chinese New Year and the upcoming Mobile Power Sale from February 25-28, featuring app-exclusive deals. Lazada will also celebrate its 4th anniversary from March 15-18, with birthday blowout specials on the mobile app.
With 3G smartphones projected to have 100% penetration by 2020, and the constant stream of free content from service providers like Globe, we can expect more and more Filipinos immerse themselves in social media and m-commerce through mobile apps. Content partnerships with Disney and NBA can potentially open up more premium purchasing behavior. Just as Facebook has become the default utility for friends to keep tabs, how Youtube has emerged as the third big “TV network,” how Video On Demand services like HOOQ and Netflix have become the new cable, so too will m-commerce emerge as the other big player in Philippine retail.
It makes more and more sense for companies, especially those who thrive on the 'tingi' or “sachet” mentality, to consider app-commerce, as a priority distribution channel. The consumer predisposition to small, frequent purchases and the active pursuit for best value via the app makes it very likely that Pinoys will check out the latest sale just as quickly as they check out their latest social media status updates.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The trend of shopping online through apps has reached an all-time high as 60% of Lazada customers have shifted from desktop to mobile. Starting tomorrow until February 28, Lazada gives more power to the mobile-savvy via exclusive deals in the Lazada mobile app.

Last September 10, bloggers, influencers, and industry insiders were treated to an informative and inspiring talk, the first ever STYLECON.
Lazada Stylecon Panelists: Sassa Jimenez, Patty Ang, Kelsey Merritt, Bea Constantino, and Angela Yeo
The event brought together today’s brightest young names in the different fields of style, such as makeup, couture, styling, and modeling. Talks revolved around style and beauty in the age of social media and digital shopping.
Bea Constantino, one of the most celebrated fashion stylists in the country, shares how sometimes the most unexpected things turn out for the best, “Fashion was never my thing when I was young. But through the years, I fell in love with it. Inspiration comes from all over – from people to places and experiences. Surviving this industry is all about respecting those who came before you, learning relentlessly and finding your best self in the process.”
Seeing fashion accessories as an investment was also a highlight in the discussion. Patty Ang, designer for Andi Eigenmann’s Cannes scene-stealer dress, said; “Invest in good jewelry. It’s a great investment because it stands the test of time. You can even pass it on to your children. Quality pieces, be it jewelry or leather bags, are great ways to add a sense of class to your wardrobe without feeling the need to update constantly.”
As for online shopping? Haute Couture designer Sassa Jimenez gave the most practical tip: “Online shopping is great because you don’t have to decide (and spend) on the spot if you want to purchase an item. In fact, you can make a wish list when shopping online. Add the items in your cart. Sleep on it. Come back the following day and assess if you still want to push through with the purchase.”
An interesting topic during the discussion was the effect of social media on fashion trends and individual style. Most of the audience, comprised of bloggers and online influencers, realized that even the experts in individual fields were always on the lookout for inspiration from other people. In a truly social world, we inspire each other with our own unique style.
Nowadays social media is an avenue for people to express their passion for fashion through images, and maybe even live their passions as well. “I have to thank the internet because social media gave me my big break as a model,” was Kelsey Merritt’s sentiment on how her fame sky-rocketed due to Instagram. From her stylish clothes to gorgeous make-up, Kelsey’s Instagram account garnered enough traction that an NYC-based agency signed her as one of their models.
Angelo Yeo (beautylista.com) prepares for her FB Live makeup tutorial
The roundtable discussion was followed by a makeup tutorial sponsored by L'Oréal. Angela Yeo, celebrity make-up artist and owner of beautylista.com, showed the audience how to achieve an easy “office chic” look – an everyday dilemma faced by majority of working women. The tutorial was broadcasted through Facebook LIVE via Lazada’s account. As a vlogger, Angela stressed the importance of product reviews when shopping online.
The most important learning from STYLECON was best summed up by Bea Constantino, “Find your passion, always update yourself, and build your brand.”
With more and more people passionate about fashion, Lazada has continually increased inventory with a wide assortment of fashion and health & beauty products. In an online survey of over 500 Filipinos, 58% of respondents admit to using mobile phones to end relationships.
Almost 30% used texts, 22% called, and 7% used instant messenger. The use of emojis was not measured.
The online survey on "Heartbreaks and Healing" conducted by Lazada, the country's leading online selling and shopping destination, wanted to investigate how technology has affected how we get together, fight, break up, and move on.
When it comes to developing relationships online profiling has become a standard practice. 54% of respondents check a potential date's social media profile before going out on one. Online research and dating is now so intertwined that even if they like someone in person, 60% of people have said that they lost interest after doing more research on social media.
Even after breaking up, more than half of the respondents (52%) report stalking their ex's social media page.
While breakups are tough, 1 out of every 3 respondents, ended up getting back together with their ex.
How to get back together? Trust is one important factor. Almost 65% of respondents say they share their email, phone and app passwords with their significant other.
Gifts don't hurt too. 75% of respondents agree that giving gifts helps in the reconciliation process. "I'm sorry Gifts" don't have to be expensive though, with 69% of respondents saying they do not have higher expectations.
At the end of the day, if you and your significant other (SO) stay together or drift apart it is important to not harbor any ill will. More people want to wish their exes well this Valentine’s day (40%) than not think of them at all (33%).
Looking for ways to spread the love this month? Whether it’s a gift for yourself, a budding loved one or a significant part of your past, Lazada’s wide assortment of products, cash on delivery, and free shipping within Metro Manila is easy to love. MANILA CITY, PHILIPPINES – Lazada Philippines sent five of its top performing sellers to Alibaba’s campus in Hangzhou, China, last February 23 to 25, 2017. They joined a delegation of 34 other sellers coming from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand.
Highlights from the 3-day visit to Hangzhou included a rare opportunity to hear from Jing Jie, Vice President of Strategic Partnership Development, Alibaba Group and Aimone Ripa di Meana, Chief Marketplace Officer, Lazada Group to gain insights on the e-commerce landscape development and best-practices of online selling. The delegates also had the chance to visit and network with other successful sellers such as Semir1 from Alibaba’s Tmall platform as well as attend two training sessions on “Operations and Assortment Planning for Singles Day” and “Online Customer Management” conducted by Taobao University.
These sellers have worked closely with Lazada throughout their Online Revolution sale event last year, and have emerged to be the top in their respective product categories, such as fashion, electronics, and other fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) categories.
These top performing sellers have experienced strong uplift in their sales during the month-long Online Revolution sale. In addition, these sellers have also offered great value to shoppers with their deals, efficient product dispatches as well as achieving minimal number of returns and cancellations on their products.
Inanc Balci, Lazada Philippines Co-Founder and CEO said, “Lazada has become the biggest entrepreneurial opportunity in the Philippines. Our platform, payment and logistics services enable all our merchants to achieve commercial success by reaching out to millions of Filipinos every day.”
“With this business trip set for our sellers to Hangzhou, we are confident that our sellers will further improve their businesses by incorporating Alibaba’s best practices into their strategy. Our merchant’s success is our utmost duty.” added Balci.
Steve Sy of Great Deals Marketing shared, “I started selling online last quarter of 2014 with power banks. I then realized that there is a great opportunity in e-commerce when my inventory was completely sold out during the Online Revolution sale. In just a span of two years, we have increased our sales to more than 200% - tremendous growth versus offline. Now I am even more excited for the upcoming 5th Birthday Sale this coming March 21 to 23.”
In addition to learning opportunities overseas, Lazada offers sellers a comprehensive suite of tools and solutions to make their online business a success. They always want what’s best for the family therefore willing to take motherhood to the next level. It might look simple, but this complicated life role can be as tiring and stressful as it can be.
Balancing the roles of being a good mom and a successful entrepreneur is 44-year-old Nariza Puno who manages to run her own family and business at the same time. Leaving her Human Resources career, Nariza has found triumph in being the boss of her own business. With her drive to succeed, this mom of four took her love for online shopping to the next level by joining the online selling platform of Lazada Philippines, the country’s leading one-stop online shopping and selling destination, in 2014. From June 19 – 22, Lazada will be launching a sale campaign called the Super Sellers Sale, featuring top sellers that have made it big on the online platform. Simply by being present on the Lazada site, these sellers gained access to thousands of potential customers a day. While commerce has remained a core function in society, the process and nature of the way people do trade has changed greatly throughout the centuries. In the Philippines, it all started with what we know as barter – a manual exchange of item per item, oftentimes without the use of money. Neighboring tribes in the country would use barter to trade items or services of equal value, such as 3 hours of labor for a meal. This changed in the 2nd Century AD, upon the arrival of the Chinese as the first foreign traders in the country. Local products were exchanged for corals, gold, cotton, and pearls, some of which can be considered early forms of currency.
In 1565, the Spaniards marked their first settlement in Cebu when they sought to acquire a share in the lucrative spice trade. It was during this same period that the Royal Company of the Philippines was abolished, making Manila an open port for global traders. This welcomed business from all corners of the world, dubbing the Philippines as the center for commerce in the East.
During the American period, a distinct advantage that Filipinos gained was access to education. No longer reserved for the privileged, education and a grasp of the English language propelled even the average Filipino further forward into the trade market, allowing him to sell local crops and goods to foreign bodies.
Through years of exposure in both local and foreign trade, the modern-day Filipino was born with an entrepreneurial spirit; according to research, millennial entrepreneurs have launched at least twice as many businesses compared to their Baby Booming predecessors. In fact, 55% of millennials in a local study indicated owning a successful business and reaching financial independence as an important value in their lives. Lucky for this generation, they are equipped with a highly distinct tool that allows them to fulfill their entrepreneurial aspirations – the internet.
The internet has changed the way people live, think, and do business. With the emergence of e-commerce, international trade became possible on an individual level. The definition of a free market has found itself in its truest form, with sellers at liberty to position their own products and pricing, and consumers at free reign to choose what they buy.

As an official e-commerce partner to these household names, Lazada allows these brands to expand their reach and their customer base past the capacities of a brick-and-mortar store.
Before the onset of e-commerce in the Philippines, people living in rural and undeveloped areas were limited to the options provided to them by their town malls and nearby shopping centers. Today, the Lazada app has been downloaded over 9.7 million times in the Philippines, and that number grows on a daily basis.

Have you ever worried about how to manage your savings until the next payday? While payday often calls for a well-deserved treat, watching your spending habits is key to properly managing your hard-earned money. Smarter spending means getting your money to go farther. Here are a few tips to help you maximize your earnings and make the most out of your next paycheck:
First rule of payday spending: budget wisely. Schedule the payment of bills such as electricity, water, and communication ahead of time. Don’t forget to prioritize groceries and other home essentials, since needs should always go before wants. By putting your necessities first, you won’t have to worry about getting your subscriptions cut, or being faced with an empty fridge.
Every month, have the discipline of setting money aside for your savings. Consider this your long-term fund for future use. Whether it be for your dream car, house, or retirement setup, a growing savings fund is a must for every earning individual.
Long weeks of stress can often make you feel like you deserve to go on a vacation – and by all means, you do! Just do not fall into the trap of spending on a whim because your wallet is feeling fully-loaded from payday. Set money aside for that trip you’ve been wanting to take, and wait for the best times to buy -- research for non-peak rates, wait for airline promos, and scan booking sites before you buy. Oftentimes, putting in a bit of effort in your research can make a big difference.
Nowadays, payday is synonymous to traffic. People are out in the streets or in malls looking to maximize their payday gains. If you jump on the bandwagon, you risk spending unnecessarily on higher surge prices and stacked parking fees. Why not make a good, home-cooked meal, and treat yourself to online retail therapy instead? From August 15-18, Lazada Philippines will be hosting a Payday Sale – don’t miss up on this opportunity to maximize your payday spending at the comfort of your own home.
Spend your money where you will get the most out of it. Another great thing about online shopping through Lazada is that the company always offers the best deals that will give you more bang for your buck. In partnership with your favorite brands and trusted banks, a discount, promotion, or freebie is always up for grabs at Lazada! A promotion you may want to keep your eyes out for this period is Mastercard Debit’s Lunchtime Deals -- get up to P400.00 off on your purchases between 12NN – 2 PM when you use your Mastercard Debit card for a minimum purchase of Php 1,500.00
In this day and age, the surest way to find the best deals is to simply search for them! Browse for your favorite items online and compare prices. Don’t limit yourself to what’s available in the local market because Lazada Philippines opens you up a world of shopping options (literally!). And since Lazada now accepts Cash-on-Delivery for items shipped from abroad, there are really no limits to where you may find your next best deal.
At the end of the day, payday celebrations are well-worth it, as long as you know how to keep your spending in check. Apply these 6 nifty tricks during Lazada’s Payday Sale on August 15-18, and you’re sure to have your payday a-game on!
MANILA, PHILIPPINES –In a recently released Rappler study on holiday shopping, Lazada ranked as the go to shopping website for Filipinos. Since its inception in 2012, Lazada Philippines has grown to become the leading online shopping and selling destination in the country.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Southeast Asia’s leading eCommerce company, Lazada Group, wrapped up its month-long Online Revolution campaign by crushing the region’s online sales record. The 12.12 final sale rang in USD 250 million in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), more than doubling last year’s sale. It also shattered the 11.11 record of USD 123 million, set only a month ago.
The massive sales volume is a clear sign that the month-long Online Revolution campaign, on its 6th year, is Southeast Asia’s biggest shopping phenomenon that has grabbed the attention of millions of consumers and provided them unprecedented access to products they want, love and need. Lazada customers came from all over Southeast Asia – from big cities like Bangkok and Jakarta to far-flung locations like Alabel in the Philippines, Jayapura in Papua Indonesia and Điện Biên province in Vietnam. Due to the spikes in volume, Lazada had to charter flights to Indonesia and Thailand to deliver goods ordered from international merchants. About 50,000 local marketplace sellers also saw massive sales increases.
Lazada constantly pushes the limits to better serve its customers and sellers to win in the region’s crowded eCommerce industry. To feature unique products and offers, it has entered into several exclusive partnerships with world renowned brands like Apple and Unilever. Furthermore, through the recently launched Taobao Collection service, it is offering a curated selection of international fashion, tech and lifestyle items. By investing heavily in its fulfilment operations, including warehouses and delivery hubs across the region, the company is continuously improving the shopping experience by reducing delivery lead times. Supported by the expertise of Alibaba, Lazada is also deploying cutting edge technology solutions, that range from search and personalization to logistics optimization, to ultimately benefit both customers and sellers on the platform.
Filipinos have embraced the convenience of shopping online this holiday season. Close to two hundred thousand Online Revolution parcels coming from both brands and merchants get delivered from the Lazada sorting center daily. Cities such as Negros Oriental, Benguet and Laguna recorded the most number of items ordered during the campaign. Interesting to note that aside from the usual tangible buys, majority of customers bought their prepaid mobile load on Lazada – a clear indicator that Filipinos are more comfortable buying almost anything beyond the realms of the physical store.
The holiday rush and last minute shopping also existed online. Items ordered broke records during the last day of the sale. Over 140,000 fashion items, over 15,000 lipsticks, and over 12,000 automotive gift items were ordered in just one day. Christmas trees of different sizes and home decorations were also top picks of customers.
“Our record-breaking performance during our Online Revolution campaign is a testament to the hard work our team has put in, but also that of our sellers, brands, logistic providers and other business partners, over the last 6 years” said Lazada Group Chief Executive Officer, Max Bittner. “The Online Revolution has just begun and it will continue to benefit consumers as well as the entire eCommerce ecosystem” he added.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Lazada merchants, their families and friends got a Christmas treat last December 18 from Lazada Philippines. The online marketplace organized a special block screening of the much-awaited Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie in the Imax Theatre of SM Aura, Taguig.
The block screening was Lazada’s way of showing their appreciation to all their sellers for making their Online Revolution campaign successful. Hussain Khalid, Vice President for Seller Performance, thanked all sellers for their hard work emphasizing that the core of Lazada’s success were its merchants, brands, and partners. Khalid also mentioned that Lazada will be rolling out more activities for sellers in 2018.

A blissful relationship and a strong business are two of life’s greatest achivements and if you find yourself able to merge these two, you are definitely doing something right.
Starting a business is not an easy decision to make but 26-year-old entrepreneur Gian Drilon took his two cents’ worth and explored ways on how he can start a business of his own. He researched and read articles on online selling until he stumbled upon the Lazada selling platform.
In May 2016, he opened his first shop, Asenso Shop, where he sells products such as toys, games, and items for mothers and babies. The first few days were smoothsailing, but as months went by, it came to a point wherein he would get hundreds of orders a day.
His girlfriend of nine years, Reg Onglao, started helping out when she has free time off of work. She does special projects for Gian, among which is to help automate processes in the business. With her help, handling the business has been easier for Gian.
“Back when we started, I used to be the only full-time employee of the business handling everything—from product selection to packing. Within a few months, the orders quickly grew and became too much for me to handle alone, but like what others would say two is really better than one,” says Gian.
To date, Gian and Reg, with the help of their five employees, handle four shops aside from Asenso Shop. These are Watch Me!, their main shop where they sell fashion accessories; Asenso Healthcare, which contains health and beauty products; Gold Panda, a shop under a special partneship with Lazada where they sell gold bars; and ZG Designs, where they offer graphic t-shirt printing.
“I have very big dreams for our Lazada stores, and I always want to keep on improving. Every month, I keep on adding more and more assortment and I also venture on new product categories. Just like my life together with Reg, our love steadily grows each day with more and more varying experiences. I dream of starting a family with her, having kids, and buying a house,” shares Gian.
By working together, their relationship and business grew together determining their mutual career plans. During Lazada’s Online Revolution Sale in 2017, the couple once received 7,000 orders in one day and this made Gian decide to take their relationship to the next level.
Gian proposed to Reg last December when he asked her to help him reboot his broken computer. When she opened it, she was surprised to see photos popping out with the question, “Will you marry me?” to which Reg replied with a sweet YES!
Through Lazada, Gian made his dream a reality. Not only does he get to spend his future with Reg, but he also is able to reach a nationwide pool of customers.
Juggling personal and business relationships altogether is no joke. “I remind myself that Reg and I are in a committed relationship—where two different people choose to become one, working together towards a common goal, and where each person complements and helps the other one grow,” shares Gian.
Gian and Reg plan to expand their business in the coming months and like them, you can do the same with Lazada Philippines’ selling platform. It offers a straightforward start-up process for merchants who want to start their own online selling business.
